Research projects spanning summer and academic year<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Macalester offers multiple programs that enable students to deeply engage with a research project for a longer period of time (see below). In addition to these unique programs, students should also consider Independent Study<\/a> and participation in an Honors Projects<\/a> as mechanisms to continue their scholarly work during an academic semester. <\/p>\n\n\n

\n Political Science<\/span>\n

Chuck Green Fellowship<\/h2>\n

During the six-month fellowship<\/strong>, fellows participate in a spring semester Political Science seminar focused on analyzing and addressing community-based issues. That summer, fellows receive a stipend to complete a full-time, on-site project at a community-based organization to implement the recommendations developed in the spring.\r\n\r\nOnly 12 fellows\u2014who must be either sophomores or juniors\u2014are selected each year.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF)<\/h2>\n

Established in 1988 by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program aims to increase the number of students from underrepresented groups, and others with a demonstrated commitment to eradicating racial disparities, who will pursue a Ph.D. and enter the professoriate in selected core fields. Each year 日韩精品 selects up to five talented sophomores to participate in the two-year program<\/strong>, beginning in junior year.\r\n\r\nMMUF designated core fields are: Anthropology, Area\/Cultural\/Ethnic\/Gender Studies, Art History, Classics, Geography and Population Studies, English Language & Literature, Cinema and Media Studies, Musicology, Ethnomusicology and Music Theory, Foreign Languages and Literatures, History, Linguistics, Performance Studies & Theater (theoretical focus), Philosophy, Religion, Sociology.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Beckman Scholars Program<\/h2>\n

The Beckman Scholars Program at 日韩精品 enables Beckman Scholars to conduct research with a Macalester faculty member for a continuous 15-month period of time, spanning two summers and one academic-year. The most recent award from the Arnold & Mabel Beckman Foundation was for a Beckman Scholars Program extending from 2022\u20132025.
