Research Fellowships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Macalester offers several research fellowships that students can apply for to support their summer research experience. Applications will open on December 22nd and close February 16th, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n

\n Science and Math<\/span>\n

Jan Serie Fellowship<\/h2>\n

The Jan Serie Fellowship a student doing full time research during the summer in any area of science or math. Research may take place at Macalester or another site, but all proposals and projects require a Macalester faculty mentor\/sponsor who will participate and\/or advise the student during the research experience. 2\u20133 awards are made each year.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Academic Exploration Fellowship<\/h2>\n

This fellowship provides support for students applying to conduct\r\nresearch with faculty at Macalester or at another institution, in any academic area or discipline. There is a preference that the work intersect with the areas of biomedicine, health care, public health research or\r\npractice, global health, or community health. 1\u20132 awards are made each year.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Nicholas O’Connor Fellowship<\/h2>\n

This fellowship provides support for students applying to conduct\r\nresearch with faculty at Macalester or at another institution with an intent to apply to graduate school in an area of chemistry or biochemistry. 1 award is made each year. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Laube Fellowship for Women’s Health<\/h2>\n

The Laube Fellowship was established to support students in any discipline or major who are conducting research or a defined community health project in public health, biomedicine, reproductive health or women’s health, including mental health. Proposals incorporating community health, international development, reproductive health advocacy, and\/or women’s empowerment, public health disparities, especially those affecting women, specifically underserved populations, those in low resource settings, and\/or outside the United States are strongly encouraged.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Kay Thomas Fund<\/h2>\n

Established by Kay A. Thomas, \u201963, the Thomas IGC Fund supports the Institute for Global Citizenship and may be used to strengthen and expand existing programs and explore new initiatives that align with the mission and scope of the IGC. This scholarship is currently offered in support of\u00a0students who wish to pursue international academic activities\u00a0during the summer, whether via study away programs, internships, language study, research, etc.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
