Students who are not: graduating seniors, participating in commencement or a part of our Residential Life team will need to depart <strong>prior<\/strong> to <strong>Noon on <\/strong><strong>May 12, 2026.<\/strong> Residents saying for commencement should fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/d5RsimBBFzpH6bmH8\">Summer Housing form<\/a> to request Transitional Housing.<\/p>\n<p>Graduating seniors do not need to fill out the Summer Housing form for Transitional Housing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wave Two<\/strong>&#8211; Students participating in commencement (including graduating seniors) who are <strong>not staying for Transitional Housing or Summer Housing may not stay past Noon on May 17th. <\/strong>Graduating Seniors may not request Transitional Housing or Summer Housing.<\/p>\n<p>All students staying on-campus post Noon on May 17th can stay in their current room until\u00a0<strong>May 20th. All students (Transitional Housing and Summer Housing) must move to Summer Housing (Dupre) on May 20th by Noon. All residents not registered for winter break housing must depart.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif\"><strong>Winter Break (including J-Term) \u2013 December 18, 2025 \u2013 January 21, 2026<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif\">Residence Halls and Apartments will be<b>\u00a0closed for Winter Break (and J-Term)<\/b>\u00a0at 12:00pm on Thursday, December 18, 2025. Halls and apartments will re-open at 9:00am on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Students can register to stay on campus during Winter Break \/ J-Term for certain pre-approved reasons: being an international student, a student who is a domestic student who has nowhere else to go, or a student participating in a campus sponsored program. See instructions below.<\/li>\n<li>To be eligible for Winter Break \/ J-Term housing, students must have a housing contract for Fall 2025 or Spring 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The deadline to register for Winter Break and J-Term Housing is\u00a0<u><b>November 17th<\/b><\/u>.<\/li>\n<li>Students participating in January Term (J-Term) can start returning back to campus on\u00a0<strong>January 2, 2026 at 9:00 AM<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Special requests for the following are not allowed:\u00a0Getting over jetlag, non-Macalester related events, transportation arrangements or prices, and error in scheduling. While this is not an exhaustive list, Residential Life reserves the right to deny requests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><b>Operations of campus (12\/18\/2025 &#8211; 1\/2\/2026)<\/b> &#8211; Caf\u00e9 Mac will be closed from\u00a0<b>12\/18\/25 &#8211; 1\/1\/26. <\/b>Hamre Center, Leonard Center, and Campus Center will be closed from\u00a0<b>12\/24\/25 &#8211; 1\/1\/26.\u00a0<\/b>These services will re-open for J-term on\u00a0<b>1\/2\/26<\/b>. Each student staying on campus during this time will have access to a kitchen in their residence hall, and the Open Pantry will offer food resources to those who need them. Additionally, all students have 24\/7\/365 access to the Press 2 counseling* and Press 3 access nurse** support, whether they stay on campus, go home, or use the winter break to travel somewhere different.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif\"><strong>Caf\u00e9 Mac will reopen for J-Term on January 2, 2026.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif\"><strong>Spring Move-In- January 20-21, 2026<\/strong>. All residents with a full year or spring semester contract may return starting at 9:00am.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"im\">**These dates are estimated based on the yearly cycle of Macalester and may be tweaked once campus announces the days the college is closed. Services are extremely limited on campus during this time. Any students who live on campus will need to organize their own meals and can expect Press 2, Public Safety, and some Open Pantry hours to be the limited resources available.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><b>To access the Winter Break and J-Term Registration form, log into your\u00a0<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/1600grand.macalester.edu\/\">1600 Grand<\/a><b>\u00a0account and navigate to the &#8220;Housing and Dining Self-Service&#8221; module in the &#8220;My Housing and Dining&#8221; section. Once logged in, click the &#8220;Apps and Forms&#8221; tab on the top bar. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. RA staff will continue to be on duty from 7 pm-8 am Monday through Friday evenings and 24 hours on the weekend.
