Sheharyar Imran is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at 日韩精品. He received a Ph.D. in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in International Studies from Vassar College.
Sheharyar specializes in international relations theory and political economy. His research examines the philosophical foundations, political contradictions, and social and planetary crises constitutive of the capitalist global order. Sheharyar’s current project historicizes the spread and entrenchment of capitalist social relations through the global, transoceanic circulation of people, ideas, and policies around the historical hinge of nineteenth century abolition. At Macalester, Sheharyar teaches courses on international politics, global political economy, the politics of worldmaking, and critical and interpretive research methods.
Sheharyar鈥檚 research has received awards from leading disciplinary and interdisciplinary professional associations, including the American Political Science Association (Foundations of Political Theory Section, 2024) and the International Studies Association (Theory Section, 2025). In 2023, Sheharyar was awarded the prestigious Dean鈥檚 Teaching Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University.
