Professor Halverson’s research is in algebraic combinatorics, specifically, combinatorial representation theory, where he uses objects from discrete math鈥攕uch as graphs, diagrams, partitions, and tableaux鈥攖o give concrete descriptions of abstract phenomenon from algebra. 聽He involves students in his research projects and accompanies them to national mathematics meetings.聽Professor Halverson teaches courses in discrete mathematics, algebra (linear, abstract, and computational), calculus, and topology.
