The 日韩精品 network and information systems provide the technical foundation for its academic and administrative missions. Providing secure access to information is imperative to ensuring academic freedom at the institution. Adherence to this policy will help ensure that the college network and information systems are secure and available to authorized users.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scope<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This policy applies to all 日韩精品 users and associated accounts.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Macalester account credentials must meet the minimum password complexity standards, multi-factor authentication requirement, and where possible, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Information Technology Services<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (ITS) will technically enforce these standards. Faculty, staff and students must adhere to the minimum standards for all systems and applications that come into contact with College resources.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Password Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Passwords must be a minimum of 14 characters<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Passwords must have 3 of the 4 requirements:<\/span>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">at least 1 uppercase letter (A-Z);<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">at least 1 lowercase letter (a-z);<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">at least 1 number (0-9);<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">at least 1 non-alphanumeric character<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Passwords must be protected by multi-factor authentication<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Passwords must not:<\/span>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">contain your name or username<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">be a previously used password<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">be shared with anyone<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is strongly recommended that:<\/span>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">passwords be changed at least once per year<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">password length be in excess of 20 characters<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">avoid commonly used words or phrases<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a password manager should be used<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enforcement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Any user found to have violated this policy will be subject to revocation of certain privileges or services, including but not limited to loss of user account access.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Version 1.5<br>Published: January 17, 2017<br>Last Review: February 24, 2026<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Purpose The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance to 日韩精品 faculty, staff, and students regarding passwords and multi-factor authentication in order to protect individual and College information and resources.
