Because of this, a variety of professional development resources and programs are provided for staff.<\/p>\n    \t    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Staff Performance Reviews<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Macalester\u2019s staff performance assessment process was created with the purpose of facilitating conversation and building connection between a supervisor and an employee. Our process aims to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Facilitate conversation and connection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proactively manage expectations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recognize and celebrate individual achievement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support individual growth<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>This collaborative process between a supervisor and employee generally begins in August of each year, culminating annually on July 31<sup>st&nbsp;<\/sup>. A review is considered complete when all three steps of the annual performance cycle have been delivered and discussed with the employee, signed by both the employee and supervisor, and turned into Human Resources.&nbsp;Any annual wage adjustments are effective September 1 of each year. Below is a copy of the review form which can be found within Macalester\u2019s Google Template gallery. To access the form, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to your Macalester Google Drive<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select \u201cNEW\u201d on left of screen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Within the dropdown box, hover your mouse on the \u201c<strong>&gt;<\/strong>\u201d symbol next to \u201cGoogle Docs\u201d to reveal the option \u201cFrom a template\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select \u201cFrom a template\u201d to reveal the gallery of forms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the file \u201c(EMPLOYEE NAME) Staff Review Form 2024-2025\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Performance reviews are not required for any staff members hired or promoted to a new position on or after March 1<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;of the previous year. However, supervisors are encouraged to conduct performance reviews with all employees they supervise.&nbsp;For questions related to the performance review process, employees are encouraged to speak to their supervisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/human-resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/344\/2025\/06\/Performance-Reviews-Refresher.pdf\">Performance Review Training<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1BnXCCcw8mKBgnbXOLXkdmdo98LimBI8-cT8NLB2zu5c\/edit?usp=sharing\">SMART Goal Methodology<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1h158opBNeRU_u9gbEB28EKfJIvYA9W1ssbApLG_DXFQ\/edit?usp=sharing\">Overall Rating Definitions<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Employee Engagement Survey<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting in 2025, 日韩精品 started conducting Employee Engagement Surveys on an annual basis. This survey is done in March of every year and all employees who started before January are invited to participate. Results of the survey are shared with the campus and at division and department levels as well. The Senior Leadership Team, every division, and every department is expected to identify 1-3 action items to focus on for the next year that respond to the feedback from the engagement survey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/human-resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/344\/2025\/06\/Survey-Action-Planning-Guide-2025.pdf\">Action Planning Guide<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/human-resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/344\/2025\/06\/SAC-All-Staff-3_27_25.pdf\">Survey Results Presentation &#8211; SAC 3.27.25<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exceptional Performance Awards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Macalester recognizes remarkable performance by employees through Exceptional Performance Awards, which are given once per year. Awards are intended to recognize uniquely exceptional achievement over the year, which are beyond the scope of the position. Exceptional Performance Award recipients will receive a one-time, lump sum payment. Submissions are then prioritized by Line Leaders. Final decision-making rests with the Senior Leadership Team. Eligible staff members must meet the eligibility criteria:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Demonstrated exceptional performance by consistently and significantly outperforming the expectations of their position. Exceptional performance may be reflected through significant impact on the department or college and through remarkable achievements on critical priorities. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Employed as a full-time or regular part-time staff member. Temporary or casual employees are excluded.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Employed in their role for at least one full year (start date on or before August 1 of the previous year).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Employed through the date when the award is paid.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Completed an annual performance review and obtained at least a <em>solid performance<\/em> rating.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If the employee is a manager, they must have completed performance reviews for all of their staff members.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The employee was not compensated or recognized for the achievements through another method during the past year (e.g. interim pay, overtime, project related stipend, awards).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Senior Leadership Team members are not eligible to receive the award<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol><\/p>\n\t                    <\/div>\n\t                <\/accordion-container-panel>\n\t            <\/li>\n\t        \t            <li class=\"accordion-group__list-item\">\n\t                <accordion-container-header\n\t                    tag=\"h3\"\n\t                    class=\"accordion-group__item-heading\"\n\t                >\n\t                    <accordion-container-header-button\n\t                        class=\"accordion-group__heading-button\"\n\t                        controls=\"accordion-group-2\"\n\t                        id=\"accordion-group-heading-button-2\"\n\t                    >\n\t                        <span class=\"accordion-group__button-text\">Faculty Members<\/span>\n\t                        <span class=\"accordion-group__icon-wrap\">\n\t                        \t<svg aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"base-symbol accordion-group__button-icon\" viewbox=\"0 0 12 12\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t    <use xlink:href=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/macalester-2020\/dist\/svgs\/symbol-plus-small.svg#icon\"\/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/svg>\n\t                        <\/span>\n\t                    <\/accordion-container-header-button>\n\t                <\/accordion-container-header>\n\t                <accordion-container-panel\n\t                    id=\"accordion-group-2\"\n\t                    class=\"accordion-group__item-panel\"\n\t                >\n\t                    <div class=\"accordion-group__item-panel-inner\">\n\t                        <p><p>Faculty exceptional performance recognitions are determined by the Provost and Dean of the Faculty based on their collaborative annual review of Faculty Addendum. The Provost and Dean look for exceptional accomplishments in one or more of the following categories, which are identified in the faculty handbook as the core areas of faculty work:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Teaching and Advising;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Scholarship; or <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Service.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These recognitions are available to tenured, tenure-track, and non-tenure track faculty.
