{"id":558,"date":"2017-09-21T20:40:09","date_gmt":"2017-09-21T20:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/160-geography\/facultystaff\/hollybarcus\/"},"modified":"2023-05-25T15:55:13","modified_gmt":"2023-05-25T15:55:13","slug":"hollybarcus","status":"publish","type":"profile","link":"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/geography\/facultystaff\/hollybarcus\/","title":{"rendered":"Holly Barcus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/geography\/research-barcus\/\">RESEARCH<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/geography\/holly-barcus-teaching\/\">TEACHING<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hello and thank you for visiting my webpage!<\/p>\n<p>I am a Professor of Geography at 日韩精品 in Saint Paul Minnesota where I study and teach about topics related to population geography, rural communities, ethnicity and culture, in both the United States and in Mongolia.\u00a0 My primary research interests focus on ethnic minority mobilities, rural livelihood sustainability, and the implications of migration for rural communities.<\/p>\n<p>I enjoy working in new communities and learning about these, and other rural topics, in communities across the globe.\u00a0 One of the ways in which I\u2019m able to connect with scholars studying these issues is through my work with the International Geographical Union\u2019s Commission on the Sustainability of Rural Systems (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.okayama-u.ac.jp\/user\/igu-csrs\">IGU-CSRS<\/a>), which I currently Co-Chair.\u00a0 The CSRS is one of the forty commissions of International Geographical Union. For twenty years CSRS has endeavored to achieve a better understanding of rural areas and of their sustainability.
