{"id":286,"date":"2017-11-20T14:38:06","date_gmt":"2017-11-20T14:38:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/financial-aid\/codeofconduct\/"},"modified":"2022-02-16T20:28:02","modified_gmt":"2022-02-16T20:28:02","slug":"codeofconduct","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/financial-aid\/loans\/codeofconduct\/","title":{"rendered":"Code of Conduct"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Macalester is committed to the highest standards of professional conduct and ethics.&nbsp; Macalester is a member of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and adheres to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasfaa.org\/mkt\/about\/Statement_of_Ethical_Principles.aspx\"> NASFAA\u2019s Statement of Ethical Principles<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This code of conduct has been developed in compliance with the requirements of the 2008 Higher Education Opportunity Act. &nbsp;All employees who are in any way responsible for the administration of student educational loans are subject to these guidelines.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Macalester employees do not receive any personal benefits from student lending institutions.<\/strong>&nbsp; Members of the Financial Aid Office staff may not accept anything of more than nominal value from a student lending institution.&nbsp; Staff members may not receive gifts or reimbursement for travel, lodging, or meals from a lending institution.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Macalester does not favor or recommend any lending institution in exchange for anything of value.<\/strong>&nbsp; Macalester will not enter into any revenue-sharing agreements with a student lending institution.&nbsp; Macalester may utilize lending institution personnel for delivery of relevant entrance or exit counseling information to students.&nbsp; Macalester may accept training and training materials from a lending institution.&nbsp; In no case will Macalester offer an advantage to a lending institution in exchange for counseling or training services.<\/li><li><strong>Employees who are involved in the administration of student financial aid will not serve on lender advisory boards in exchange for remuneration.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Macalester may provide a list of preferred lenders for private\/alternative loans.&nbsp;<\/strong> If Macalester provides a preferred lender list, the criteria for inclusion will be clearly articulated.&nbsp; Macalester students are always free to choose any lending institution, regardless of whether the lender is included on a preferred lender list.<\/li><li><strong>Macalester will work to efficiently process all student loans, regardless of the student\u2019s choice of lending institution.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Macalester is committed to the highest standards of professional conduct and ethics.&nbsp; Macalester is a member of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and adheres to NASFAA\u2019s Statement of Ethical Principles.
