Short-Term Study Away Programs Listening Sessions

Since last fall, the Center for Study Away has been exploring ways to expand and enhance a foundation around short-term study away opportunities for students who are not able to participate for a full semester.

We have been speaking to and collaborating with partners across campus in recent months to consider how we might develop more of these courses embedded with study away components at MAC. So now, Ali Swenson (CSA Assistant Director of Finance & Operations) and I (Shanti Freitas - CSA Director) will be hosting two more listening sessions for faculty and staff. We will be presenting the ideas we've heard, suggesting a structure around these programs (proposal process, timeline, costs), and receiving feedback so we can finalize this plan for the next academic year.

We invite any faculty/staff with an interest in short-term study away to attend one of these sessions, and particularly encourage those who are curious about developing a program for 2026-27.
