The Macalester Music Department welcomes Latin jazz/hip-hop artist Maria Isa.

Maria Isa is the only hip-hop artist to also serve as a Minnesota State Representative. She was born in Minnesota and was raised on St. Paul’s West Side barrio. Isa has performed alongside and opened for artists such as The Roots, Bad Bunny, Common, Moby, Bomba Estereo, Sheila E, Kendrick Lamar, and Wu Tang Clan. She is the founder, producer, and co-host for the Latina Theory: Spanglish Podcast.
