A Time I Said "No" to a Student
Please join the Serie Center for 鈥淎 Time I Said "No" to a Student.鈥 Requests from students - for advice or assistance or letters of recommendation, to sponsor internships or summer research projects, to grant another extension, etc. - are a regular part of our lives as colleagues. There are times, however, when it鈥檚 just not possible to say 鈥測es鈥 to every request that comes your way. How have you navigated the need to say 鈥渘o鈥 to a student? Can you think of a time when you actually did say 鈥渘o?鈥 How did it go? What - if anything - might you do differently in the future? What questions or advice do you have for other colleagues who are trying to figure out how to respond to student requests? Please join us for a conversation about when and how to say 鈥渘o鈥 鈥 and 鈥測es鈥 鈥 in ways that can meet the needs of our students and also be sustainable and supportive of our own wellbeing. All faculty and staff are welcome. Lunch will be provided.
