the Associate Director of Assessment creates an infrastructure and serves as a resource.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our assessment process intentionally connects yearly assessment efforts to the&nbsp; College\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/18Mbs7EW4M2R_8f_3Sx5s_1XEQstAp4SbQpcq8xS3nmU\/edit#gid=0\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">10-year cycle for external reviews<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.&nbsp; Please see our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/macalester.edu\/departmentassessment\/home\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Google Site for general information about external reviews and assessment, and for private, department-specific folders with timelines and relevant documents<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/macalester.edu\/departmentassessment\/home\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To support academic department assessment, the Assessment Office:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Collaborates with academic departments to develop and conduct alumni surveys in preparation for self-studies;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Provides individual guidance on assessment strategies and methods;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Creates assessment-related faculty development opportunities at Mac, and in partnership with other institutions, e.g. our current participation in a multi-institutional FaCE grant entitled \u201cMaking Assessment Work at Liberal Arts Colleges in the 21<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">st<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Century\u201d and a Summer 2020 workshop on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.macalester.edu\/macdigital\/creating-a-maximally-responsive-syllabus-aligning-learning-outcomes-assignments-and-assessment-strategies\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Creating a Maximally Responsive Syllabus<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Partners with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/seriecenter\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Serie Center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to offer occasional Faculty Learning Communities, e.g. the 2018 FLC on curricular mapping.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Assessment in academic departments and programs guides systematic, regular reflection on teaching and learning, and is a helpful means to confirm or improve curricular and advising strategies.&nbsp;&nbsp;
